Bridging the gap between education and the workplace
The GoFurther Academy is our dedicated career development and progression hub. Founded in 2018, it supports career growth, skills nurturing and talent attraction. We improve work opportunities and people’s skill sets, both in GoCo Group and the wider community, and we have a lot of fun while doing it. We’re good at it too; we won a Highly Commended Academic Programme award by FinTech Wales.
Unlock your skills with our key programmes
On a GoCo Group internship, you can gain industry exposure, develop existing technical skills and expand your range of soft skills (things like communication, problem solving and teamwork). We accept applications from many situations, including university students wanting internships as part of their studies and the recently unemployed. Some of our interns have become excellent permanent recruits through the scheme.
Since launching the Academy with our first ever degree apprenticeship scheme in 2018, we’ve grown our opportunities for current university students to join us as trainees while studying. In addition, our university partnerships have given existing employees the chance to gain a fully funded degree in key industry areas, such as software engineering and cyber security.
We’ve partnered with the University of South Wales and the Welsh Contact Centre Forum to offer a Masters degree in Data Science programme. Every eight months, two graduates get to work in our leading data team alongside studying towards their Masters. This enables them to learn on the job and earn while they study.
To help the next generation of school leavers get workplace ready, our partnerships with local councils and education facilities spread the word about our work experience opportunities. We also offer work placements through our GoDiscover programme. It’s a fortnight-long workplace exchange between our apprentices and graduates and the junior employees of Rackspace, our London-based technology partner.
If you want to try something a little different, and you have the right transferable skills, attitude and aptitude, we can help you transition from one area of work to another. For example, we’ve had people go from customer services to legal, from marketing to tech and from maths to data science – all with great results for both the switchers and our departments.
If you’re into STEM subjects, we have lots of innovative, creative and progressive roles for you to consider. It’s a huge area of interest for us, so much so that we have 30 STEM ambassadors, of which half are female. We train them so they can go to schools and colleges to showcase our tech and data-driven workplace culture to the next generation.
Don’t just take our word for it
